Dan Power spends the majority of the northern hemisphere winter in Japan and the southern hemisphere winter covering events in the Australian and New Zealand skifields. In between winter excursions, Dan Power Photography provides a full range of photographic services around Australia.
I spent the first seven years of my working life as a Business Analyst within a major Australian Government department, but was left feeling unfulfilled and disillusioned with the public service lifestyle. After a brief stint of travel I left the public service and not long after that I discovered the snow, doing my first season in Perisher working as a kitchenhand.I was hooked; I’d never had so much fun in my life. I bounced from job to job; anything to keep me in the snow. I’ve worked as a chef, labourer, traffic controller and a few other things.. it didn’t matter what I did, as long as I was snowboarding.
Having received an education in the fundamentals of photography at a young age from my father, I picked up the camera again in 2008 and started shooting in the snow. This re-ignited a passion that had lain dormant for many years, and Dan Power Photography was born.
Dan has been published in numerous magazines, most notably SnowAction magazine where he resides as Photo Editor. His list of satisfied commercial clients includes Niseko Tourism, Treble Cone ski resort (Wanaka, NZ), Nemesis Productions, and Niseko HANAZONO ski resort (Niseko, JP), and continues to grow with each passing winter.
